Campaign for
Justice, Freedom and Peace in Ethiopia
International Ethiopian Women’s Organization (IEWO) is an organization
established to
bring justice, respect of human rights and peace in Ethiopians.
It is an organization devoted to further women’s
assertive participation
in the struggle for women’s rights, economic equality and social stability.
Today, Ethiopian women carry the brunt of the
overall oppression, injustice,
poverty and violence that has engulfed the society. A large number of
Ethiopia
women and children are subjected to modern slavery
and human trafficking. They are forced to migrate to the Middle East
and become victims of modern slavery as they are forced to selling their labor
to a sub-human standard with ever
increasing danger of constant sexual
and physical abuses that culminate in physical and mental disturbances
including
suicides. The dehumanization and cruelty that
Ethiopian women are enduring has been directly and indirectly
legitimized
and sponsored by the current repressive regime in Ethiopia.
Thus, International Ethiopian Women’s Organization has made it
its responsibility to campaign
against the violence and injustice
committed on Ethiopian people in general and the oppression
and exploitation
of Ethiopian women in particular.
As part of our peace and freedom campaign
we would like to call upon
the international community to:
1. Hold the
government of Meles Zenawe accountable for
its gross violation of human rights, genocide and ongoing
widespread
repression of Ethiopians,
2. Avoid becoming an accomplice
to the act of
Melese Zenawe’s regime brutally robbing the poor
and illegally amassing monies of corruption
and out right theft,
3. Urge those that are actively helping and sustaining
the
life of the present repressive regime in Ethiopia to stop,
instead call upon you to stand with the Ethiopian people
by boycotting the regime politically and economically,
4.
Remind all those involved in helping the present regime the
grave consequences of their act such as enabling
and sustaining the life of a political system that makes
life unbearable to the vast majority of Ethiopians,
5. Encourage those countries and global communities
which are engaged
in economic and political aid
to the people of Ethiopia not to the regime,
6.
Support our effort to stop human trafficking
and the subjecting of young Ethiopian women
to modern slavery and
gross inhuman treatments
in Middle East countries in particular,
7.
Support our demand for justice and for
the releases of W/ro Birtukan Medikesa
and all political prisoners
in the country,
To these end, we call upon you
to support the
Campaign for Justice, Freedom and Peace in Ethiopia.
For true peace to be attained justice must prevail in
society,

ቦይኮቱ ያስፈለገበት
ዋናው ምክንያት በሀገራችን ብዙ ህዝብ
ምግብ በማጣት በርሃብ እየሞተ ባለበት
በአሁኑ ወቅት ጤፍ እንጀራ ወይንም
ማንኛውንም ከኢትዮጵያ ወደ ውጭ የሚላኩ
የምግብ ሸቀጦችን መግዛት ማለት ከራብተኛው
አፍ ነጥቆ እንደመብላት ስለሚቆጠር
ኢትዮጵያውያን በዚህ ተግባር ላይ
እንዳይተባበሩ ለማሳሰብና ለማንቃትም
ጭምር ነው:: በውጭ አገሮች የምንኖረው
ኢተዮጵያውያን ብዙ የምግብ አማራጮች
ስላሉን ከኢትዮጵያ የሚመጣ እንጀራ
ቦይኮት ብናደርግ ምንም የሚጎዳን
ነገር የለም:: እንዲያውም በተቃራኒው
የወያኔን ሸቀጦች ቦይኮት በማድረጋችን
ለወገኖቻችን ጥሩ ነገር እያደረግን
እንደሆነ ልንዘነጋ አይገባም::
ወያኔ የምግብ ሸቀጦችን
ከተራቡ ሀጻናት አፍ እየቀማ በመሸጥ
በሚያገኘው ገንዘብ መልሶ ያንኑ ጭቁን
ህብ መረሸኛ ሰለሚያደርገውና ለመጨቆኛ
ተቋሞቹ ማጠናከሪያ ሰለሚያውለው፡
በወያኔ የሚላከውን እንጀራ በመግዛት
ወያኔ በሚፈፅመው ወንጀል በቀጥታም
ሆነ በተዛዋሪ ተጠያቂ ሊያደርገን
ይችላል::
በዚህ በክፉ ወቅት እንጀራ
ወይንም ማንኛውንም የምግብ ሸቀጥ
ወደ ውጭ አገሮች እያወጣ በመሸጥ አረመኔው
የወያኔ አገዛዝ በአንድ ድንጋይ ሁለት
ወፎችን ለመምታት የሚጠቀምበት መሳሪያ
ነው:: በአንድ በኩል እንጀራ ወደ ውጭ
አገሮች እየላከ በመሸጥ የውጭ ምንዛሬ
ለማገኘት ሲያስችለው (ከድሃው ገበሬ
በርካሽ ዋጋ በመግዛትና በጣም በውድ
ዋጋ በዶላር ወይንም በኢሮ በመሸጥ)
ሁለተኛው ሊያስመዘግበው የሚፈልገው
የፖለቲካ ጥቅምም አለው:: ይኸውም ወያኔዎች
በአሁኑ ጊዜ ኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ ርሃብ
የለም፤ የተጋነነ የጠላት ወሬ ነው
ብለው ስለካዱ አህል ሞልቶ ተርፎ ወደ
ውጭ አገሮች መሸጥ እንደሚቻል ለዓለም
ለማሳየት ነው:: ሌላው ከዚሁ ጋራ የተያያዘው
ጉዳይ ከኢትዮጵያ የሚመጣውን እንጀራ
የሚሸጡትም ሆነ የሚገዙት(የሚቀበሉት
ነጋደዎች) ከወያኔ ጋራ ግንኙነት የሌላቸውና
ነፃ ወይንም ገለልተኛ ነጋደዎች መስለው
እንዲታዩ ለማድረግ ነው:: ነገር ግን
ሃቁ በዛሬዋ ኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ እንጀራ
አሁን እየተሸጠ ባለበት ደረጃ ይቅርና
ማንኛውንም ጥቃቅን የንግድ ሥራ የሚቆጣጠረው
ወያኔ ብቻ እንደሆነ ዓለም ያወቀው
ፀሐይ የሞቀው ሀቅ ነው:: ነፃ ነጋደዎችንማ
ወያኔ ከኢኮኖሚ ጫዎታ ውጭ ካደረጋቸው
ብዙ ዓመታት ተቆጥረዋል::
ቦይኮት ቅኝ ገዥዎችንም
ሆነ አምባገነኖችንና እንደዚሁም
ዘረኝነትን ለመዋጋት ብዙ አገሮች
ተጠቅመውበታል:: ለምሳሌ በአሜሪካ
ውስጥ ቦይኮት የሚለው ቃል ገና ከጥቅም
ላይ ከመዋሉ በፊት ከባርነት ነፃ ለመውጣት
በባሪያ ጉልበት የሚመረት የእርሻ
ምርት ማንም ገዝቶ እንዳይጠቀምበት
ከባርነት ነፃ የነበሩ ጥቁሮች ቅስቀሳ
ያደርጉ እንደ ነበረ ከታሪክ ለመረዳት
ይቻላል:: እንደዚሁም በአሜሪካ የእንግሊዝ
ቅኝ ገዝዎች የእንግሊዝ መንግሥት
ወደ አሜሪካ (ቦስተን) የላከውን ሻይ
ቅጠል ባህር ውስጥ በመጨመር ቦስተን
ቲ ፓርቲ ( Boston tea party) በመባል የሚታወቀውን
ተግባር በማከናወን በእንግሊዝ ፓርላሜንት
ውስጥ ውክልና ሳይኖረን ቀረጥ አንከፍልም(No
taxation without representation) ብለው ታግለዋል:: ከዚሁ ከአሜሪካ
ሳንወጣ ጥቁሮች ለእኩልነት ከታገሉበት
እንድ ዋና መሣሪያና ሮዛ ፓርክንና
በሁዋላም ማርቲን ሉተር ኪንግን ዝነኛ
ያደረገው የሞንቶ ጎመሪው በስቦይኮት
(bus boycott) ጥቁሮች ለእኩልነትና ለነፃነት
የነበራቸውን ጥማት ያቀጣጠሉበት
ዋና የትግል መሣሪያቸው እንደነበረ
በታሪክ ይጠቀሳል::
የኢኮኖሚ ቦይኮትን በህንድ
አገርም ሆነ በደቡብ አፍሪቃ ፀረ ቅኝ
ግዛትንና አፓርታይድን እንደ መታገያ
ዘዴ በመጠቀም ነፃነታቸውን እስከሚያገኙ
ድረስ ተጠቅመውበታል:: ቦይኮትን በመጀመሪያ
ጊዜ የተጠቀሙበትና ቃሉም ከጥቅም
ላይ እንድውል ያደረጉት በአየርላንድ
(Ireland) የሚኖሩ ጭሰኞች እንደነበሩ ይነገራል::
ታሪኩ እንደዚ ነበር:: የቃሉ
ባለቤት የነበረው ሰው ቦይኮት( Captain Charles
Cunningham Boycott) የአንድ በቦታው የማይኖር የመሬት
ከበርቴ (absentee English landlord) ወኪል ሆኖ በሚሠራበት
ጊዜ ጭሰኞቹ የሚከፍሉትን የመሬት
ኪራይ እንድቀንስላቸው ይጠይቁታል፡
ቦይኮት ግን ቅናሽ ከማድረግ ይልቅ
ይባስ ብሎ ገበሬዎቹን (ጭሰኞቹን) ከይዞታቸው
እንድነቀሉ አደረጋቸው:: በዚህ ድርጊቱ
የተበሳጩትና የተጎዱት ገበሬዎች
ከካፒቴይን ቦይኮት ጋራ ምንም ዓይነት
ግንኙነት ላለማድረግ ወሰኑ።
ማንም ሰው ለርሱ እንዳይሠራ፡
ማንም ሱቅ ያለው ሰው ለቦይኮት ምንም
ነገር እንዳይሸጥለት፡ ፓሰተኞችም
የፖስታ አገልግሎት እንዳያደርጉ
ባጠቃላይ በማንኛውም ነገር ከካፒቴይ
ቦይኮት ጋራ የሚደረግ ግንኙነት እንድቋረጥ
በመደረጉና ቦይኮትም ይኸንን መቋቋም
ስላልቻለ በአጭር ጊዜ ውስጥ አይርላንድን
ለቆ ወዴ መጣበት ወደ እንግላንድ እንድመለስ
ተገዶ ነበር::
ከላይ እንደተጠቀሰው
ቦይኮትን በመጠቀም የተለያዩ አገሮች
ከኢኮኖሚም ሆነ ከፖለቲካ ጭቆና ነፃ
ወጥተዋል:: ቦይኮት ለሚለው ቃል አጠቃቀም
ባለቤት የነበረውና የመሬት ከበርቴ
ወኪል በመሆን ህዝብ ሲበድል የነበረውን
ካፒቴይ ቦይኮትን ቦይኮት በማድረግ
የአይረላንድ ጭቁን ገበሬዎች ድል
እንደተቀዳጁ ሁሉ እኛም ኢትዮጵያውያን
ፀረ-ህዝብ፡ ፀረ አንድነትና ፀረ ኢትዮጵያ
የሆነውን ወያኔን በማንኛውም መንገድ(በኢኮኖሚ፤
በፖለቲካ፤ በማህበራዊ ኑሮ ወዘተ)
ቦይኮት በማድረግ ወይንም ከህዝብ
እንድገለልና ብቻውን እንድቆም በማድረግ
ከእኩይ ዓላማው እንድታቀብና ከህዝብ
የነጠቀውን ሥልጣን ለሥልጣን ባለቤት
ለሆነው ለኢትዮጵያ ህዝብ እንዳስረክብ
ማስገደድ እንችላለን::
ሆኖም ግን ወያኔ ከካፒቴይን
ቦይኮት ሚሊዎን ጊዜ የከፋ በደል በኢትዮጵያውያን
ላይ የፈፀመ ወንጀለኛ ድርጅት ስለሆነ
ሥልጣኑን በሰላም ለመልቀቅ አሻፈረኝ
ካለና የሚሸነፈው ግደታ በህዝባዊ
አመፅ ከሆነ እንደፈለገው መንገዱ
ቀና ሆኖለት ወደ መጣበት ወደ ደደቢት
ተመልሼ በሰላም እኖራለሁ ብሎ የሚያስብ
አይመስለንም:: ምክንያቱም ነፃ እናወጣሃለን
ተብሎ ቃል የተገባለት በተግባር ግን
በስሙ የተነገደበትና ለወያኔ ግፍ
አገዛዝ የመጀመሪያ ሰለባ የሆነው
የትገራይ ህዝብ ስለሆነ ወንጀለኛችም
ቢሆኑ የኛው ልጆች ናቸው ብሎ ለወያኔ
አስቦ ለፍርድ እንዳይቀርቡ ይከላከልላቸዋል
ብለን አናምንም:: ስለሆነም ወያኔዎች
ዛሬ ቀን ሰጠን ብለው በኢትዮጵያ ህዝብ
ላይ መቀለዳቸውንና ግፍ መሥራታቸውን
በማቆም ከነርሱ በፊት የነበሩት አገዛዞች
የደረሰባቸው ውድቀትና ውርደት ሳይደርስባቸው
በጡንቻ የነጠቁትን ህዝባዊ ሥልጣን
በፈቀዳቸው እንዳስረክቡ እንጣይቃለን::
ድል ለኢትዮጰያ ህዝብ
ኢትዮጵያ በቆራጥ ልጆቿ
መስዋትነት ነፃነቷ ተጠብቆ ለዘላለም

BOYCOTTING THE ELECTION By Ambassador

A Parliament is a political
body composed of freely and democratically elected representatives in which all measures governing millions of people are
discussed freely and decided upon according to democratic rules. To be party to such body knowing fully that one’s vote
counts for nothing, against an automatic majority organized by the ruling regime is contrary to any democratic
principles and moral values, and a betrayal of the electors trust. People elect representatives to voice their concerns in
the polity and to promote their welfare.
In the case of Ethiopia it is universal knowledge that the regime in
power has exerted e very means legal and illegal to win the election. Opposition members have been killed, arrested, harassed
and persecuted for one reason or another, peasants, workers, students, women, high school students, state and private sector
employees have been forced to register with the party in power. Public meetings and manifestations have been prohibited. The
independent press has been muzzled, journalists arrested, access to media denied to the opposition but for debates orchestrated
by the regime, foreign broadcasts like VOA have been jammed. Independent observers from local NGO’s are not allowed
to observe the proceedings of the vote. Foreign diplomatic representatives cannot travel around the country without prior
government permission. Businesses and merchants have been blackmailed to contribute millions of Birr to the ruling
party.
From what has been observed for the past five years those that have been party to the present parliament
have not produced anything of value, but serving as a punching bag for the Prime Minister abuses and contempt. Participating
in such kind of farcical comedy at the expense of the disadvantaged people they are supposed to represent, is a sad and most
serious breach of public faith. Under these circumstances I think that opposition parties should simply boycott the
election instead of being party to a humiliating rigmarole.
BOYCOTTING THE ELECTION IS CLEAR AND
POSITIVE POLITICAL STATEMENT WITHOUT AMBIGUITY AS TO THEIR IDEOLOGICAL AND POLITICAL POSITION, THAT WILL ENHANCE THEIR PUBLIC
IMAGE IN LIEU OF A DEMEANING ACT OF SURRENDER.
